All the Libertarian News you can use for the week of January 23rd, 2009
Ahh...Please no more inauguration coverage. I am so tired of it. One choice quote from the speech though:
"The question isn't whether Government is too big or too small, but whether Government Works"
-President ObamaSpeaking of Obama, this week the administration is considering the creation of a Federal Government bank that takes on bad assets. Well, I guess this is one definition of change.
After a three week siege, Israeli troops have begun pulling out of Gaza. This is very encouraging. The destruction of Gaza cannot be denied and I'm sure many war crime accusations will be made in the coming weeks.

In economics news, the first bank failure of 2009 is the National Bank of Commerce from Illinois. On the heels of this news, California has suspended all tax refunds, welfare checks and student grants. Meanwhile, the UK Pound has crashed on bank fears.
PBS has posted "The Ascent of Money", which is a documentary on the evolution of money. I think its a history lesson that we all need to review. Especially today.
The big news in the Libertarian blogosphere this week, was the release of a book entitled "Against Intellectual Monopoly." The central theme of the book is that IP laws are not necessary for innovation and actually damage prosperity and Liberty. The Mises Institute also launched a new peer-reviewed journal, to be entirely web-based called "Libertarian Papers." At launch, they have included two previously unpublished papers by Rothbard and Mises. Cool!

A new free-market energy blog has been released. It's amazing that it took this long. The site is called "Master Resource" and brings a much needed pro-market view to the infinite amount of big-Government solutions to energy problems.
I leave you this week, with a creepy video of Obama supporters (especially at the 3:50 mark) and a big Happy Birthday to Lysander Spooner! He lives beyond the grave!
